RE: Quick and easy using fresh peaches?

SUPER_DAVE, THANKS FOR SHARING THIS RECIPE.
I AM PRINTING IT RIGHT NOW AND CAN'T WAIT TO TRY--IT SOUNDS DELICIOUS!
This was super easy.
4 - 5 peaches peeled and sliced
1 box of cinnamon coffee cake mix
4 oz. butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 - 2 TBSP flour (depending on juciness of peaches)
Melt butter in the bottom of the baking dish and spread sliced peaches in baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and flour. Make coffee cake mix as directed and spread over peaches. Bake until top is a nice brown.

Glen Rose Texas area info?

Anyone familiar with the area around Glen Rose? I was reading about the Dinosaur Valley State Park and the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and it sounds interesting. We've never been in this part of Texas before.
Also, if anyone can recommend an rv park in the area, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

RE: Who likes live theatre?

Yes, I love live theater. My daughter and I go to Playhouse on the Square in Memphis to see shows (Hair and Amadeus among our favorites); took my granddaughter there to see Grease for her 13th birthday. I've also seen West Side Story at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.
Here in our rather small town, we have a few shows during the year. This is the birthplace of Tennessee Williams, and Richard Thomas (John Boy from the Waltons) will be here in September as part of a festival.

RE: Maggie Valley or Cherokee, NC

We have stayed at Stonebridge RV Park in Maggie Valley, and the Ghost Town in the Sky is just down the highway from there. This is a really nice park, with a pool, but not a lot of children's activities. We like Maggie Valley because it's a really quiet area.
Our last trip there in April, we drove to Cherokee and saw the KOA that the other poster mentioned and it looked really nice, plus there are a lot of things to do and see in Cherokee. I think if we had young children, that would be our choice.
October is an excellent time to go because of the cooler weather and the beautiful colors of trees, etc. Hope you have a super time.

RE: Grand Canyon

We're doing The Train...nice RV park and train ride to the rim and back. Should be fun. Just an alternative. We'll be there in a couple of weeks.
We did this last May and really enjoyed it. We did the train ride with box lunch; the bus tour was waiting when we got to the Canyon Depot.
As someone else said, Williams is really a neat little town, and if you have time, please take the Oak Creek Canyon drive to Sedona.
Hope you have a great trip!

RE: Blue Ridge Parkway

We have stayed at Stonebridge RV Park in Maggie Valley and got on the Parkway near Cherokee. Since you will be ending the drive near Cherokee, just wanted to mention Stonebridge. It's nice, clean, has a beautiful stream and Maggie Valley is not congested. Maggie Valley is only about 6 miles away from Waynesville. If you like pizza, try Nick & Nate's Pizzeria in Waynesville.
Also, there is a nice drive from Waynesville to Brevard, which is in Transylvania County and home to lots of beautiful waterfalls.
While we only went partway up the Parkway, it was well worth the trip-lots of beautiful scenery and stops.
Enjoy!

RE: The Good Old Days

OMG, my very first job was in Woolworth's working behind the candy counter! I worked there after school for a while. I remember being moved to the cosmetic counter--probably because of my sweet tooth!

RE: weather - Yellowstone and Grand Tetons

This is not really an answer to your question, but a request. Please post when you get back and tell us all about your trip and how you liked the RV park. We are hoping to visit that area next year, and will welcome any information.
Hope you have a wonderful time!

Recipe for canning banana peppers

I have canned before, but not peppers. Someone gave me a few plants and now we have banana peppers everywhere!
The recipes I have found call for cooking a brine of water, vinegar, and salt. But some of them use tumeric; some say to use sea salt; and some have a garlic clove added.
Can some of you tell me exactly how you do this? Thanks.

Maggie Valley, Stonebridge RV Park. Full hookups, pull-thrus, babbling brook! We have stayed there several times, and really like it.

RE: Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride

Thanks for posting the website. Our daughter and son-in-law are planning to do this ride and my husband and I might join them. We've never been on a ride like this, with so many, but it sounds like fun.

RE: Need Appetizer Ideas

We've made humus, nice summer treat. In a food processor, chick peas, sesame tahini, some olive oil, garlic, and optionally some roasted red pepper. Chill. Toast up some pita bread and there ya go.
I second this suggestion! I've made it and it's delicious with the pita bread or veggies or small crackers or hard chips.

RE: Need Appetizer Ideas

How about that wonderful fruit dip:
l jar marshmallow creme
8-oz cream cheese, softened
Blend and refrigerate (may need to double if lots of people)
Then arrange fruit on toothpicks: Strawberries and blueberries (for 4th colors) along with apples, pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, etc.

RE: Any using a TENS unit?

My husband uses his TENS machine every morning (and sometimes at night). He's had two back surgeries and has some level of pain most of the time. The TENS helps him get going.
Thanks for the video.

RE: Hi Everybody!!

Vintagers, I really enjoyed reading your post, and look forward to your future pics and adventures!
Up until about 4 years ago, I had never even THOUGHT about camping. My husband, who drove big trucks for years, has been all over the U.S., but never had time to stop and see anything along his way. So when he retired, he suggested buying an RV. I was hesitant at first, but now we both love it.
So, congratulations, and welcome to the wonderful world of camping!

RE: Taco recipe (Authentic)

I can't help with the recipe, but I'll bet that Mexican family made good tamales, too! I love all Mexican food, especially tamales. I'll be watching this topic to see if someone posts the recipe you are looking for.

RE: what did you name your dog and why

We have a Jack Russell terrier mix named Prissy. My husband and I watch South Park and one of the little boys on the show has some stuffed animals he uses to have a tea party. He calls one of them Polly Prissy Pants, and we always thought that was funny. When we first saw this little puppy prancing around, someone said she was prissy. We looked at each other, laughed, and immediately named her Polly Prissy Pants.
